At about 3 p.m. father and son Roger and Hogan Marquis passed the 400-mile mark on their Wicked Long Run for Camp CaPella Kids. Starting last Friday at the International Bridge in Fort Kent, they plan to arrive in Kittery on Sunday May 31 in the afternoon after running and riding (alternating between one jogging on the road and the other riding a bike pulling a carriage with tent and supplies) the entire length of Maine, or about 506 miles along their chosen route. Follow their progress at http://wickedlongrun.blogspot.com.

Today they started out just outside Augusta, changed their plan and travelled straight down Route 201 and will wind up this evening in Brunswick or just beyond. Tomorrow they run and ride from Brunswick through Yarmouth and Portland to Saco, and Sunday they run from Saco through Biddeford and Kennebunk to Kittery, finishing the Wicked Long Run for Camp CaPella Kids.

Along the way Roger and Hogan Marquis are collecting contributions to help send children with physical and developmental disabilities to camp this summer at Camp CaPella, one of only two handicapped-accessible camp facilities in Maine for children (and adults) with disabilities. Camp CaPella is located on Phillips Lake in Dedham, about halfway between Bangor and Ellsworth (see www.campcapella.org).

Yes, it has been a wicked long run. How does any pair of guys do two or even three marathons every day for ten straight days all the way from the top to the southern border of Maine? Roger and Hogan Marquis are still on-schedule. Stay tuned.
