Maine Runners of the Year?

We at the Maine Running Forum want to see if there is interest in naming our picks for Maine Runners of the Year. As we are barely half way into 2009 we already have several names in mind that we believe should be on everyone's short list:


name, town - year to date and or selected highlights

Sheri Piers, Famouth - 16th USA Womens' Marathon Olympic Trials, 3rd American, 11th overall Boston Marathon.

Mike Brooks, Danville - 14th overall covering 491 miles in the Sri Chinmoy 10 day race in Queens NY; working to raise $10,000 for Camp Sunshine.

Roger Marquis, Old Town - Created and ran the 'Wicked Long Run from Fort Kent to Kittery (506 miles) working to raise $10,000 for Camp CaPella.

Steve Reed, Wiscasset - hasn't taken a day off from running since June 16, 1976. 33 year anniversary coming soon!


If you have anyone in mind that you think should be added to this list please respond to this thread and tell us who and why. At sometime in the near future we'll set up a poll and let you decide who the winners should be.
